I'm planning a network upgrade where several UniFi access points and switches will be connected across different areas of a building.
One thing I'm trying to figure out is how much attention to give the fiber uplinks before choosing the switches and SFP modules.
For a small network, a standard Ethernet uplink is usually enough. But when the distance between switches increases, or when there are multiple APs and higher-speed connections involved, fiber seems to make more sense.
A few things I would consider before the upgrade are
I'm particularly interested in how others here plan their fiber links when upgrading a UniFi network.
Do you normally choose the UniFi switches first and then select the appropriate SFP modules, or do you plan the fiber and transceivers first?
Also, has anyone here found that upgrading the uplink to 10Gbps made a noticeable difference when running several UniFi APs?
